Afry has been commissioned by Lausitz Energie Kraftwerke (LEAG) to support the development of a second so-called Power-to-X plant in Germany. LEAG, one of Germany’s largest power producers, intends to establish the country’s largest center for the production and use of hydrogen, along with large-scale storage of green electricity. The whole initiative is called the H2UB project<\/a>. The facility is planned to be built at a decommissioned coal power plant in Boxberg, Saxony. <\/p>\n\n According to the press release, the hydrogen power plant will contain a 110 megawatt electrolyser with the capacity to produce up to 2,100 kilograms of hydrogen per hour. In addition, a storage facility is planned that will be able to store at least one day’s production of green hydrogen. <\/p>\n\n FACT<\/strong>: Power-to-X is the name given to methods of converting electrical power from renewable energy sources into other forms of energy<\/strong>. Today, the main product that goes by the name Power-to-X is hydrogen produced with renewable electricity. <\/p>\n\n <\/p>\n\n
