Sweden will host the Nordic leg of the Hydrogen Bus Road Tour this spring. <\/a>Sweden hosts the Nordic hydrogen bus roadshow this spring as part of the JIVE (Joint Initiative for hydrogen Vehicles across Europe) projects supported and funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership. A zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell bus will visit four Swedish cities \u2013 Stockholm, Gothenburg, Ljungby, and V\u00e4xj\u00f6 \u2013 to demonstrate how climate-smart public transport can already become a reality today. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Strong collaboration behind the roadshow<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Hydrogen Sweden is organizing the roadshow together with partners including Toyota, Strandm\u00f6llen, Hydri, PS Energi, and V\u00e4xj\u00f6 Airport. The event is part of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership funded JIVE projects, which has deployed 300 hydrogen buses on European roads. The JIVE projects has already organised three roadshows in several Eastern European countries between 2022 and 2024, with Sweden and Finland hosting the fourth and last roadshow from the projects this year. The previous initiatives had an important impact on local demand, with all participating cities announcing a formal interest in deploying hydrogen fuel cell buses after the roadshow. It also contributed to a higher understanding of technology and its benefits to a large audience. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The tour kicks off in Solna on April 23 and concludes at V\u00e4xj\u00f6 Sm\u00e5land Airport on May 7. The hydrogen bus will then head to Finland for its final stops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why hydrogen vehicles?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

“The development of zero-emission vehicles is progressing rapidly, but we need multiple technical solutions to meet different needs. Batteries work well in many cases, but not always when driving long distances or when there\u2019s no time for frequent charging. That\u2019s where hydrogen vehicles have an advantage \u2013 they offer longer range and fast refueling. In regions where hydrogen refueling stations already exist, or will soon be available, the rollout of hydrogen buses can start immediately,” says Bj\u00f6rn Aronsson, Managing Director of Hydrogen Sweden. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

In fact, the deployment of over three hundred fuel cell buses in sixteen European cities, together with a significant reduction in costs – from \u20ac1.5 million to less than \u20ac625,000 per bus – shows how JIVE and JIVE 2 are contributing to European industrial leadership and strengthening the EU’s competitiveness in the international clean mobility market. Official workshop: Tackling barriers together<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

An official workshop will take place in Stockholm on 23rd April, aiming to address the different barriers to hydrogen powered buses in the country and attempt to find solutions. It will host representatives from the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, Hydrogen Europe and ERM together with Sweden central and local authorities\u2019 representatives, experts, and energy associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
