New voices, new paths – spring initiatives for greater gender equality
During the spring of 2025, Hydrogen Sweden has intensified its efforts to strengthen gender equality in the energy sector – with a particular focus on highlighting career opportunities in the hydrogen field for young women. Through targeted efforts towards both the industry and the education sector, we have opened up for new perspectives, future skills supply and a stronger, more inclusive innovation climate.
For our members, this means increased visibility, skills development and the ability to attract the workforce of the future – especially in a sector that is growing rapidly.

Activities we carried out in spring 2025:
1. Networking mingle with Women in Green Hydrogen
Together with Liquid Wind, we organized a networking event within the European network Women in Green Hydrogen. By highlighting Swedish voices and promoting international exchange of experience, we have helped to raise the profile of female experts – and created more opportunities for collaboration between our members and new talent in the sector.
2. Board training with a gender perspective
We have conducted training for women in the energy industry, focusing on board work, sustainable business development and leadership. The aim is to help more women take up strategic and decision-making roles – strengthening the industry as a whole and giving member companies access to a broader recruitment base.
3. Be the Future – event at Peder Skrivares school in Varberg
An inspirational and informative event organized by students at Campus Varberg. The focus was on showing high school students – especially girls – the opportunities available in the energy and hydrogen sector. Thanks to collaboration with members such as Siemens Energy and PowerCell Group, it became an appreciated format, which can now be scaled up to more schools. A step in concretely showing how we can future-proof the supply of skills in the industry.
4. Lunch lecture at Chalmers University of Technology
We met with students to inspire careers in energy and hydrogen, for both men and women. It was an opportunity to both showcase the breadth of the sector and raise interest in future employment with our member companies. Networks such as Women in Green Hydrogen were also highlighted.
5. Launch of films – female role models in the industry
A series of short films have been produced in which women working in the hydrogen sector talk about their motivations and career journeys. The films are used in our social media, schools and digital channels – and serve as a concrete tool for member companies that want to attract more women to technology and industry-related roles.
Why is this relevant to you as a member?
As a member of Vätgas Sverige, you are part of an industry initiative to meet increasing demands for diversity, equality and sustainability, which helps to create a more competitive industry!
Next steps
