Hydrogen mobility in Sweden is on its way
In line with European Commission strategy to rapidly decarbonize transport in Europe, Hydrogen Sweden is the leader of the EU-project #NordicHydrogenCorridor. It is a project to promote a #hydrogen infrastructure in the Nordics. In cooperation with several members as well as Nordic Hydrogen Corridor, Vätgas Sverige arranged several seminars in Almedalen week. The purpose of participation is to put hydrogen on the map and at the centre of the political conversation in Sweden
Here are some highlights from the seminar about hydrogen mobility:
🌱 Even though the fuel cell electric vehicles (#FCEVs) shine in absence in Sweden right now, it is full speed ahead. Towards 2025, 60 hydrogen refuelling stations are planned to be established and various hydrogen vehicles are being manufactured.
🌱 Motivation to invest in hydrogen is increasing, due to the buyers are clearer.
🌱 We need to cooperate with all stakeholders from logistic buyers, car manufacturers and politicians. Cooperation with energy companies due to their expertise in the local market and access to electricity is also central.
🌱 Hydrogen is filling a gap in transportation where there is a high energy demand and medium to long distances.
🌱 Upscaling and making fossil-free more competitive either through taxes or consumption is one way to unlock the market.
🌱 Considering the large amount of electricity that is needed to produce green hydrogen, the transition must be made gradually, realistic with clearly defined targets. Start with a baseload and then successively find other customers from various sectors.
🌱 Education and spreading knowledge about green hydrogen is key.
Participants: Mattias Goldmann from 2030-sekretariatet, Mikael Antonsson from Everfuel, Christer Wikner from Metacon AB (publ), Jonas Åkermark from Norwegian Hydrogen, Christer Bruzelius from Gotlandsbolaget and Rickard Nordin from Centerpartiet.
